Indian envoy harps on democratic ties with Nigeria

Mr Abhay Thakur, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria has said that unity in diversity is critical to sustain democracy in diverse and populous countries like India and Nigeria.

Thakur made this known on Saturday in Abuja in an event to commemorate the National Unity Day of India and the 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, who was instrumental to India’s independence.

According to Thakur, Oct. 31 has been a special day for India since it was set aside by the government of India in 2018 to honor Patel , a day also acknowledged by the United Nations.

He said that Patel’s philosophies, thinking and ideas hold a lesson for all large countries particularly large democratic counties in the world including Nigeria.

Thakur also said that Patel’s philosophies have been instrumental to the unity enjoyed in India today despite diverse religions, ethnicity and culture which is key in every populous nations.

“Today is a very special day for India because for the last several years it has been marked as the national unity

"My fear Is how kids are exposed to some much vain music now and giving that this artist become rich and they become the definition of what a successful artist is, now that’s a big problem. I think ices not a coincidence though!"
