BIO. Höwler is a Thrash Metal band from Costa Rica founded in 2009.
As the band began writing songs in earnest for their second album in 2013, they added a new drummer, Rory MacMurdo, to the fold.

When asked why he chose to champion an obscure nascent indie band from Minnesota, the NME journalist said he was particularly impressed by Jordan’s stage presence. Their music was rough but full of potential. Jordan, on the other hand, was ready to explode. Since their catapult into the spotlight, he has become Howler’s main talking point.

“He’s known for not giving a fuck and hating his hometown,” their publicist explains, comparing Jordan to Julian Casablancas, swinging from the microphone with a bottle of Jack in hand. The description, along with NME’s dubious ‘cool people’ credit, is designed to impress 12-year-old boys and would-be tween groupies. It’s not actually cool to act like a petulant dick – even 20-year-old Jordan Gatesmith knows that.

“I’m not a cock,” he laughs. “I’m a decent human being, I swear. There’s nothing rock’n’roll about me. I can be a dick in interviews sometimes, but it only happens every once and a while and it’s mostly because I’m cranky or I didn’t get a nap that day or something like that. I had a great nap today. Welcome to the FILTHY DOGS OF METAL Webzine.
Tell us a few things about HOWLER (Members, Starting Year etc).
The band members are Jose Mora on bass, David Mora on guitar, Renan Obando on guitar, Diego Arce on drums and me, Charlie Díaz, on vocals.Höwler started in 2009 with Jose, David, me an other members. In 2013 we decided to make a merger with a brother band called Inhaler (Renan's band),which started around 2006, but since Höwler were a band with more, let's say, achievements and greater projection, we decided to keep that name.Over the years we have produced 2 EPs and 3 LPs, we have done tours in Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras, and we have been the opening act of foreignbands such as DRI, Whiplash, Angelus Apatrida, Solstice and Thrash or Die.

Indie-rock band from Minneapolis

Howler was an indie rock^[1]^[2] band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group consisted of Jordan Gatesmith on lead guitar and vocals, Ian Nygaard on guitar, Yayo Trujillo on bass and Hiram Sevilla on drums.

Howler received international acclaim,^[3]^[4]^[5] most notably from NME, which named Howler their No. 3 Best New Band of 2011^[6]^[7] and included Jordan Gatesmith in their 2011 Cool List.^[8]^[9] The band has also played festivals like SXSW, The Great Escape, Reading & Leeds and Rock the Garden.

Formation and This One's Different EP

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Gatesmith began Howler out of boredom in 2010 with former member Daniel Hupp. Before Howler, he had created other bands without much success. "I was starting bands what seemed like every other week," explained Gatesmith. "We had a metal band for a while. We had one called Gay Animals, another called A-Cups, but none of them really lasted that long".^&
