Jan Vanriet (Jan Louis Lucien Van Riet), (Antwerpen 21 februari 1948) is een veelzijdig Belgisch kunstenaar.^[1]

Hij is in de eerste plaats een figuratiefkunstschilder en dichter.^[2]^[3] Daarnaast is hij onder andere auteur, columnist, illustrator, ontwerper, tekenaar, curator en monumentaal schilder. Hij wordt genoemd als een van de belangrijkste hedendaagse Belgische kunstenaars.^[4]^[5]^[2]^[6]

Hij is vooral gekend voor zijn geëngageerde werken over de gruwel van politieke vervolgingen in de 20ste eeuw, in het bijzonder de concentratiekampen in de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

Zijn werken zijn opgenomen in verschillende musea en collecties in België en in het buitenland.

Hij kreeg in 2001 de Van Acker Prijs.
