Admiral Lynch retired from the U.S. Navy after a decorated 32-year career. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, his Naval assignments included Chief, Navy Legislative Affairs; Commander of the Eisenhower Battle Group during Operation Desert Shield; Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy from 1991 to 1994 and Director of the Navy Staff at the Pentagon from 1994 to 1995. As a midshipman, he captained the 1963 Navy Cotton Bowl team with teammate Roger Staubach, its Heisman winning Quarterback. In 2010, Admiral Lynch was awarded the USNA Distinguished Graduate Award. After retiring from the Navy, Admiral Lynch served as a Senior Vice President for Safeguard Scientifics, where he was responsible for operations, mergers and acquisitions and oversight of emerging partnership companies including CompuCom Systems where he became President and COO. Thomas Conner Lynch (May 20, 1904 – May 29, 1986) was an American lawyer who served as District Attorney in San Francisco and as Attorney General of California from 1964 to 1971.[1]
Early life
Lynch was born in San Francisco in 1904 to Mary O'Conner and Patrick Lynch, an Irish immigrant from County Kerry. Lynch's mother died in 1906, and his father was killed in 1913 attempting to rescue a fellow worker while working on a sewer excavation. Subsequently raised by extended family members, Lynch attended Catholic grammar schools in San Francisco before attending Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University. Lynch went on to attend law school at the University of San Francisco School of Law.[2]
Following law school, Lynch was admitted to the bar in 1930 and worked as an insurance underwriter before being appointed an Assistant U.S. Attorney in 1933.[3 United States Navy officer Thomas Charles Lynch (born April 7, 1942) is a retired Rear Admiral in the United States Navy. He was Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland from June 15, 1991 to August 1, 1994. Born in Lima, Ohio, the son of Rodney and Marie Lynch, he is a 1964 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.[1] He played football there, lettering three times and captaining the 1963 team. He also was involved in boxing.[2] Lynch also held the command of the Eisenhower Battle Group during the course of Operation Desert Shield, and chief of Navy Legislative Affairs. He retired in 1995, in the position of Director of the Navy Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He is currently[as of?] affiliated with Newday Veteran Mortgage Services (Newday USA).[citation needed] In 2012, Lynch was named to the board of directors of Premier Holdings Corporation, an energy services holding company.[3]
