Jane Lanier

Jane Lanier, 87, of Waco, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in Waco.

Visitation: 5-7pm Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Graveside Service: 11am Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Powers Chapel Cemetery, 546 Fm-2027 Rosebud, Tx.

Jane was born on December 17, 1936 in Lott, Texas to Tullie Blakley and Pearl Seaton. She married Thomas Earl Lanier on March 12, 1956 in Rosebud.  Jane was a long time resident of Lacy Lakeview. She was retired from a long career with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Jane was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, aunt, and friend.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Tullie and Pearl; husband, Thomas Earl; sister, June; brother, Robert and daughter, Colleen.

Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonna and Jimmy Buster, and grandchildren and great grandchildren, Garrett, Kristen, Kylie Jane and Hunter Patterson; Jeff, Kelly, Elliot, Kennedy, and Kollins Jane King; and Andrew, Erika, and Johnny Buster.

Jane was born in Ft. Wayne IN.  At 19 she went to NYC to visit and got a pre-Broadway Musical COLETTE, written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt starring Diana Rigg. After it closed on the road she moved to New York. She then worked as a dancer/ singer/ actress on Broadway, Off Broadway, and around the country for many years. Her Broadway credits include a starring role in FOSSE (Drama Desk Award Nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical), JEROME ROBBINS’ BROADWAY directed by Jerome Robbins (Tony Award Nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical), GUYS AND DOLLS directed by Jerry Zaks, SWEET CHARITY directed by Bob Fosse, ANYTHING GOES directed by Jerry Zaks starring Patti LuPone, and ON YOUR TOES directed by George Abbott. She came to Los Angeles in the early 90’s. Her TV and film credits include: GLEE (Guest Star) MURDER ONE, (recurring), DIAGNOSIS MURDER, THE SHEILD, MEDIUM (recurring role), a lead role in the independent film MERCY, and MICHAEL directed by Nora Ephron starring John Travolta.  She joined Interact Theatre Co and did many plays there

Jane Lanier Watson, 23

Jane Watson, age 23, beloved daughter, sister, friend, and colleague, took her own life on Monday, September 19 in Brooklyn, NY. Jane was born in Greenwich on June 24, 1999 to Joseph Dunlap Watson and Hilary Healey Watson. On that day, she joined her mother and father and sister, Josephine Huskins Watson, to form our special foursome. Jane lived a beautiful and exceptional life in Greenwich; Scottsdale, AZ; Zug, Switzerland; and New York, NY.

Jane was educated at Greenwich Academy beginning in preschool at the Cowan Center, through Group 5. She then attended middle school at the International School of Zug and Luzern while her family resided in Zug. She returned to Greenwich to attend the Greenwich Academy Upper School, graduating in 2018. She attended Columbia University and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies, graduating with honors in May 2022.

From the first days of her life, Jane made an extraordinary impression on everyone who encountered her. She was kind, compassionate, generous, talented, brilliant, funny, and beautiful.
