Biography

Matt has played with various artists as well as his own band The Mustard Seeds.

He grew up in Detroit Michigan playing with The Kingston trio, The Ink Spots, and many different jazz groups and big bands as well as local bar bands and original bands.

He then attended college at North Texas State until 1981 when he went on tour with Maynard Ferguson. He recorded two albums with Maynard, "Storm" and "Live In San Francisco".

In 1983 he moved to Los Angeles and began playing and recording with Gino Vanelli, Julian Lennon, Brian Wilson, Steve Perry, Peter Frampton, Johnny Mathis, Phyllis Diller!!, his own band A440, Sheena Easton, Jeff Lorber, Dave Koz, The TV show Friends, The Tracey Ullman show, Disney's "The Weekenders", "Just Shoot Me", David Lee Roth, Joe Satriani, Don Henley, The Michael Thompson band, Evan and Jared, Cristopher Cross, The Captain and Tennille, Kombo, Takashi Utsunomiya, ELO with Jeff Lyne, and various others.

According to Guitar 9, an online musicianship magazine, he has played bass and other stringed instruments on at least 22 albums, with music styles ranging from jazz, jazz fusion, progressive metal and instrumental rock. Bissonette has played bass with performers such as David Lee Roth (1987–1992), Jeff Lynne and ELO (2001), Ringo Starr (2003–2005), and currently, Elton John (2012–present). He is the brother of drummer Gregg Bissonette.

    Career

    Bissonette attended the University of North Texas's jazz music program. In the early- to mid-1980s, he toured and recorded with jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. For part of his time in the Ferguson band, he played alongside his brother Gregg, which the brothers have done several times in their careers.

    Bissonette toured and played with Caspar McCloud for Caspar's Self Portrait album produced by Ahmet Ertegun for Atlantic Records 1982–83.
