Girolamo de Rada
Girolamo de Rada was an Albanian playwright, poet and journalist. He was born on 29th November 1814 in Macchia Albanese, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy and died on 28th February 1903 in Calabria, Italy aged 88.

Girolamo de Rada (known in Albanian as Jeronim De Rada) was born on 29th November 1814 in Macchia Albanese, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. His father was a parish priest in the Italo-Albanian Catholic church and his ancestors are believed to have migrated from Diber County, Albania. Girolamo studied at the college of St Adrian in San Demetrio Corone which was popular with those of Albanian descent and he began collecting folklore.

Jeronim de Rada (tal.Girolamo de Rada, 29. novembar 1814 – 28. februar 1903) bio je arbereški folklorist, novinar, pravnik, književnik i sudionik Albanskog narodnog preporoda.[1] Smatra se jednim od najutjecajnijih albanskih pisaca19. stoljeća, koji je odigrao bitnu ulogu u albanskoj renesansi.[1]
Život
[uredi | uredi kod]Rođen je kao sin župnika talijansko-albanske katoličke crkve u Macchia Albaneseu u planinama Cosenze, De Rada je pohađao koledž svetog Adrijana u San Demetrio Coroneu. Već prožet strašću prema svom albanskom porijeklu, počeo je sakupljati folklornu građu u ranoj mladosti.

[uredi | uredi kod]U oktobru 1834. godine, u skladu s očevim željama, upisao se na Pravni fakultet Sveučilišta u Napulju, ali glavni fokus njegovih interesa ostali su folklor i književnost. Upravo je u Napulju 1836. godine De Rada objavio prvo izdanje svoju najpoznatiju poemu na albanskom jeziku, Pjesme o Milosau (Këngët e Milosaos, 1836) pod talijanskim naslovom Poesie albanesi del secolo XV.
