Dead (musician)

Swedish black metal vocalist (1969–1991)

Musical artist

Per Yngve "Pelle" Ohlin (16 January 1969 – 8 April 1991), known professionally as Dead, was a Swedish musician who was best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem from 1988 until his death in 1991. Prior to Mayhem, he performed as the vocalist in the Swedish death/thrash band Morbid. Dead was a popular figure of the Norwegian black metal scene, and his legacy persists in the genre to this day. Roadrunner Records ranked him No. 48 out of 50 of The Greatest Metal Front-Men of All Time.[1]

Per was haunted by thoughts of the afterlife and started to suffer from sleep apnea where he would dream he was being choked to death although he was actually suffocating. It was also during this time that he started to get into metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Kiss, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Motörhead, Venom, Sodom and Mercyful Fate as his favorite.

Morbid[]

Morbid was formed in Stockholm, Sweden, at the end of 1985. With Pelle as the group's founder and mastermind, they had a revolving door of members before settling on the line-up of John "John Lennart" Hagström and "TG" on guitars, Jens Näsström on bass and Lars Göran Petrov on drums. When "TG"
