Judith Glory Hill (born May 6, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California.[1][2] She has provided backing vocals for such artists as Michael Jackson, Prince, and Josh Groban. In 2009, Hill was chosen as Jackson's duet partner for the song "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" during his This Is It rehearsals. After Jackson's death in 2009, she, along with the rest of the This Is It cast members, performed at Jackson's memorial service and attracted global attention when she sang the lead on the song "Heal the World". Judith Alison Hill (born 30 October 1959) is an Irish architectural historian, built heritage consultant and author, best known for her biography of Anglo-Irish dramatist and folklorist Lady Gregory.[1]
Education
Hill was born in London and educated at North London Collegiate School. She graduated from Girton College, Cambridge in 1982 with a BA in the History of Art and from Oxford Polytechnic (now Oxford Brooks University) in 1989 with a diploma in architecture. She was awarded a PhD in Architectural History by Trinity College Dublin with a thesis on the Gothic revival in post-Union Ireland.[2]
Career
Hill moved to Ireland in 1989. After completing The Building of Limerick (1991), Hill developed a business as a built heritage consultant. She published Irish Public Sculpture in 1998. This was followed by two biographies, Lady Gregory: An Irish Life (2005) on the Anglo-Irish dramatist, folklorist, theatre manager and leader of the Irish Literary Revival, and In Search of I Dr. Judith Hill joined Livermore Computing as a Computational Scientist in 2021. She specializes in the development, implementation, and application of numerical methods for massively parallel computers to a variety of applications including computational fluid dynamics, climate science, and chemistry. Her interests include multiphysics and multidomain coupling methods, implicit interface methods, and large-scale PDE-constrained optimization. Prior to joining Livermore Computing, Judy was the Group Leader for the Scientific Computing Group at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and she also served as Program Manager for the Innovative and Novel Computational Impact on Theory and Experiment (INCITE) program at the Leadership Computing Facilities at ORNL and ANL. While at ORNL, Judy established and led the ECP Application Integration effort aimed at leveraging existing application readiness efforts at the three ASCR computing facilities (OLCF, ALCF and NERSC) for the ECP application projects.
